Pierce Tap® 1

Fres-co Pierce Taps® employ patented pierce-at-first-use technology and flow-through piercer technology to maximize barrier protection, flow rate and shelf life for liquid dispensing packages. The three-piece design is available in two embodiments: Pierce Tap® 1 and Pierce Tap® 2.

Pierce Tap 1 has a bottom heat sealable flange which allows application to Vertical/Form/Fill/Seal pouches eliminating the need for a pre-cut hole in the pouch and a separate gland. Both embodiments are assembled with tamper-evident protective caps. The all-plastic Fres-co Pierce Tap represents a significant advancement in barrier protection and sustainability for liquid dispensing packages. With no metal parts, there is no potential for corrosion in acidic drink or harsh chemical applications.

Fres-co’s VFFS machines, rollstock and pierce-at-first-use Pierce Tap are all integral components, which together make our Fres Flow™ package unique. Using our VFFS machines, we apply Pierce Tap 1 to the outside layer of high barrier rollstock as pouches are being formed, filled and sealed. Our patented Pierce Tap pierces the pouch material for the first time when the consumer activates the tap by pressing the bulb of the tap. This provides longer shelf life by eliminating the oxygen ingress that occurs through fitments on conventional pre-made bags.
