It’s never been more important to prioritize wellness. At Fres-co System USA, we’re dedicated to creating a culture of health and well-being for our employees. To us, this means implementing initiatives that go beyond just providing access to healthcare and other resources. We’re focused on building a culture where employees feel supported and encouraged to live healthy lifestyles across all areas of their physical, mental, and emotional health.

While our headquarters is locally based in Telford, PA, we’ve modeled our employee wellness mission after the UN’s Sustainable Development goal for good health and well-being, which has allowed us to create a more sustainable and equitable workplace where employees can thrive and reach their full potential. Our employees are our most valuable asset, and we’re committed to providing them with the resources and support they need to be healthy and happy.

Wellness Benefits from Day One

From the moment our employees are hired, they are given immediate access to a wide range of wellness benefits and initiatives. This includes medical, dental, and vision benefits beginning on day one of employment, so our team members never have to worry about a lapse in coverage. In addition, we offer employer-paid short- and long-term disability and paid parental leave.

Our Employee Assistance Program (EAP) also helps make well-being a priority and provides another expression of our commitment to each employee’s development, motivation and engagement. The Employee Assistance Program offers confidential counseling, 24-hour crisis help, peer support groups, and an AI chatbot for emotional support. Accessible at no cost, the EAP extends its services to cover various life challenges, including childcare, legal assistance, home ownership programs, financial help, adult and eldercare, college planning, and identity theft services. On-site Safety and Wellness Initiatives

The most successful organizations don’t just have the best talent—they also prioritize the health and well-being of their employees. Rather than offering wellness support only from outside vendors, we provide several types of on-site benefits that are designed to put flexibility and accessibility first. 

Environmental Health and Safety Team

Our on-site environmental health and safety team is dedicated to creating the safest possible work environment for our team members. They conduct regular inspections, investigate incidents, and develop and implement corrective actions. They also manage Near Miss Reporting, Recordable Injuries, and Workers’ Compensation claims.

Wellness Coach

Fres-co’s on-site wellness coach is a confidential resource that employees can turn to for support with a variety of health and wellness topics. This wellness coach is available on-premise to answer questions, offer coaching, and execute activities and events in a variety of areas, including:

  • General health and well-being topics such as exercise, fitness and conditioning, tobacco cessation, stress management, nutrition, high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes, and sleep
  • Health metric testing, including blood pressure, body composition, and hydration
  • Management of minor aches or muscle soreness

Ongoing Wellness Events Hosted Onsite

Health and wellness can take on many different forms. We offer a wide range of wellness events onsite at our locations from annual vaccinations and preventative screenings to ongoing safety learning opportunities and blood drives. We’re dedicated to supporting our team, as well as growing our impact on the communities where we live and work.

  • Blood drives: In partnership with Miller-Keystone Blood Center, we host two blood drives per year onsite, allowing our employees the opportunity to more easily donate blood and save lives. This initiative also helps to ensure that there is a sufficient blood supply for those who need it.
  • Flu shots: We offer flu shots once a year through LabCorp. This not only increases access to the flu vaccine to our team, but also helps to reduce the risk of absenteeism and lost productivity due to the flu.
  • Mammograms: A mammogram is the best way to detect breast cancer early and improve breast cancer survival rates. We offer on-site mammograms once a year through a mobile mammography bus, allowing our employees the opportunity to receive a no-cost mammogram.
  • Safety fairs: We host a safety fair once a year to build awareness of facility safety hazards and health risks, hazardous waste management processes, and emergency evacuation, and response processes. Providing the opportunity to learn about safety procedures helps us create a safer and healthier work environment for all employees.
  • CPR and AED training: We offer CPR and AED training once a year for Fres-co’s First Responders Team. This provides employees with the skills and knowledge they need to respond to medical emergencies in the workplace. It helps to ensure that employees are prepared to help their colleagues in the event of a medical crisis.

Building a Community Through Awareness

At Fres-co, we believe that awareness is the first step towards building a more compassionate and inclusive community. By raising awareness of important health and social issues, we can foster understanding, empathy, and support for those who are affected by them.

Breast Cancer Awareness Day

We believe that to help those facing breast cancer, awareness alone isn’t enough—we need to help get involved. Our Breast Cancer Awareness Day event gives employees a chance to learn about breast cancer, early detection, and the need for mammograms. We also honor those who are fighting, have survived, or have lost the battle to breast cancer.

Autism Awareness Day

Our Autism Awareness Day event allows us to learn and share about Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and the challenges faced by those who are affected by it. We also promote a culture of acceptance and inclusion for those with ASD.
